The President's Message
by Edwin Lee

“Movement in a New Direction helps you find new Cheese.”  From my favorite book, Who moved my cheese, I find that our business world is constantly changing.  If we only take one moment to breathe or even blink, then an opportunity may very well pass us by.  As this year’s AAa/e President, I want to provide you with as many tools and knowledge for you to MOVE towards and SEIZE as many opportunities as possible.

My goals are simple:

1)      Collaborate with Architects, Engineers and Design-Build contractors as a team to provide a positive impact within our construction industry and build a green and sustainable built environment.

2)      Make AAa/e work for you!  Our bandwidth of business contacts from different market sectors can provide us with first-hand knowledge of business opportunities.

3)      We are a well established Association, together we should help our county, city and local jurisdiction to better govern our design code and practice, and town planning issue.  We should imprint in our community that we are here for good and have a positive voice.

What exciting programs are in store for you this year?  Here’s just a few you will find informative and valuable to attend: LA County Department of Public Works, LACCD, CRA of LA, NAVFAC, NBC and Disney…...

AAa/e is prominent in the Los Angeles business sector and now is the time to step up and be present in our community as well.  We need to work together to build our community with tools for a sustainable environment.  Collaborating with our AAa/e Foundation and with many scholarships in place for our young and bright students, we can make a difference to our next generation and community.

With your continuous commitment and support to AAa/e, I feel confident that we can accomplish what we set forth.  As I work late hours in my office, I think of my teenage girls working hard on their homework in pursuit of their goals and the American dream.  I want them to have a brighter future and be as unafraid to move in any direction as they so choose.  It starts with me and you and the impact together we can bring to our community for a sustainable built environment.
